The LNP will deliver funding support for the Laidley and Lockyer Community Centres to ensure vital community services can be maintained, if elected this month.

LNP MP for Lockyer, Jim McDonald, said the community centres provided critical social infrastructure, played a key role in fostering community connection and cohesion, and offered essential services and support for the community’s most vulnerable members.

“This $660,000 project is part of the LNP’s commitment to working harder for Queenslanders,” said Mr McDonald.

“Never has this funding been more important as our community faces cost-of-living pressures.

“I have been a strong advocate for the Lockyer (Gatton) and Laidley Community Centres, and this funding increase will allow the hardworking teams to continue delivering their vital programs and services.

“These community gathering places are so important when there are disasters, both as shelters for the community, and as bases for our hard working emergency personnel.”

Mr McDonald said there would be an annual funding boost of $110,000 for both the Gatton and Laidley Community Centres over the next three years.

“Labor’s mismanagement has resulted in over $20 billion in project cost blowouts— funds that could have been used to support grassroots infrastructure like our community centres.”

Mr McDonald said Queenslanders could vote for the community centre funding and a Fresh Start for Queensland, by voting LNP on October 26.

“Only by voting 1 LNP will Queenslanders get a Fresh Start and projects like the $660,000 for our community centres,” Mr McDonald said.

“Labor is desperate to hold onto power, but unless we change the government, we’ll continue to get more of the same under Labor.

“This is the opportunity for a Fresh Start with the LNP’s Right Plan for Queensland’s Future.”
